Bournemouth confirm Christie out for rest of season

Bournemouth have officially announced that Ryan Christie will be out for the rest of the season. The 30-year-old is set to undergo surgery to treat a groin injury.

Christie has missed just two of Bournemouth’s 31 Premier League games. Although he failed to complete 90 minutes in nine of them due to fitness issues.

But give the wear and tear Christie has accumulate in recent months. The club are seriously considering sending the midfielder for the surgery before the end of the season to get him fit for the start of the 2025-26 campaign.

Christie posted on Instagram that he would be taking some time off to recover. With the caption: “It’s time to heal.”

This week, Spanish coach Andoni Iraola said: “Ryan’s situation is worrying because he has been dealing with groin, pubic bone, muscle and other minor issues since the beginning of the season.”

“He’s very sincere and he wants to push, even though he’s been through injuries. And he’s been playing very well for a long time.”

“I think it was the moment when my body said maybe it was time.”

“We tried to go with him until the end, but there were moments in the Brighton game where he felt he couldn’t play anymore.”

“That’s probably something we have to analyze. There’s a chance that we’ll decide he should have surgery now, recover, recover slowly and be ready for next season.”

“It’s not a decision, but a situation that needs to be analyze very well because I think his body is telling him he’s trying too hard,”
